DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has forecast generally fair but unstable weather conditions across Mindanao, with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms expected from Saturday morning, April 25, until early Sunday.

According to PAGASA’s 5:00 a.m. regional weather bulletin, the entire Mindanao island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies influenced by easterlies—warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean. While much of the day may remain dry, localized thunderstorms could develop, particularly in the afternoon and evening.

Authorities warned that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas, urging residents to remain vigilant.

Zamboanga Peninsula: Intermittent Rains, Warm Temperatures

Across Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City and Isabela City, weather conditions will range from partly cloudy to cloudy, with chances of rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures are expected to range:

  • Zamboanga City: 25°C to 33°C (today), up to 34°C tomorrow
  • Zamboanga del Norte: 27°C to 33°C
  • Zamboanga del Sur: 25°C to 30°C
  • Zamboanga Sibugay: 25°C to 32°C

Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 to 1.2 meters, posing minimal risk to small seacraft under normal conditions.

Northern Mindanao: Hot Days, Possible Afternoon Storms

In Northern Mindanao, similar weather patterns are expected. Provinces such as Bukidnon may experience a wider temperature range, from a cool 19°C in the early morning up to 33°C during the day, with peaks possibly reaching 35°C by Sunday.

Island province Camiguin and coastal areas like Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental will also see intermittent rains and thunderstorms, with temperatures hovering between 25°C and 33°C.

Davao Region: Warm, Humid with Scattered Thunderstorms

In the Davao Region, including Metro Davao, the weather will remain warm and humid, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 33°C today and slightly higher tomorrow.

Nearby provinces such as Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental will also experience similar conditions, with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms expected throughout the forecast period.

Winds and Sea Conditions

Winds across Mindanao will be light to moderate, blowing from the southeast to south. Sea conditions will remain slight to moderate, making it generally safe for fishing and small vessel operations, although caution is advised during thunderstorms.

Advisory

PAGASA continues to advise the public, especially those in landslide-prone and flood-prone areas, to monitor updates and take precautionary measures as thunderstorms may intensify without warning.

With easterlies continuing to influence the region, residents can expect a mix of sunshine and sudden downpours—a typical pattern signaling the transition toward the wet season in Mindanao.
