A regional weather advisory issued by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warns of unsettled weather conditions across Mindanao, with cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms expected to persist from early Tuesday morning until Wednesday.

The weather system affecting the region is the easterlies—warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean—which are currently influencing large parts of Mindanao. According to PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the most significant impact will be felt in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands, where cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast throughout the period.
Authorities caution residents in these provinces to remain vigilant, as moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Wider Mindanao Outlook
Across the rest of Mindanao—including Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM—weather conditions will range from partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms also driven by the easterlies. While rainfall in these areas is expected to be less intense, PAGASA still warns of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Key urban centers such as Zamboanga City, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro will experience intermittent rains and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
Temperature and Wind Conditions
Temperatures across Mindanao will remain warm and humid, with daytime highs ranging from 31°C to as high as 36°C in inland areas such as Maguindanao del Sur and North Cotabato. Cooler temperatures, dipping as low as 19°C, are expected in elevated areas like Bukidnon.
Winds will generally be light to moderate, blowing from the east to northeast across the island. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters—conditions considered generally safe for small sea vessels, though caution is still advised during thunderstorms.
Areas Under Continued Rainfall Watch
Aside from Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands, other provinces expected to experience frequent rainshowers and thunderstorms include:
- Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur
- Davao Oriental and Davao del Norte
- Lanao del Norte and Misamis Oriental
- Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato
- Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi
Public Advisory
PAGASA urges the public, especially those living in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, to stay alert for possible weather disturbances. Local disaster risk reduction offices are also advised to monitor conditions closely and prepare for rapid response should heavy rains intensify.
Fisherfolk and small boat operators are encouraged to observe caution when venturing out to sea, particularly during thunderstorms, despite generally manageable sea conditions.
The weather bureau continues to monitor developments and advises the public to stay updated through official bulletins and local authorities.
