The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned of widespread rains and thunderstorm activity across Mindanao as easterlies continue to affect the region, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides in several provinces.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional forecast for the Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), PAGASA said the weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Misamis Occidental, and Basilan.
Authorities cautioned that moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao—including parts of Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region—will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Despite generally lighter conditions, PAGASA emphasized that severe thunderstorms could still cause localized flooding and landslides.
Zamboanga Peninsula Under Persistent Rains
Across Zamboanga City and nearby provinces such as Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail throughout the day.
Temperatures in the sub-region are expected to range between 25°C and 34°C, with light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
Similar conditions are forecast in Isabela City, where intermittent rainfall may persist.
Northern Mindanao: Mixed Conditions
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
However, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental will experience more persistent rainfall, similar to conditions in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Temperatures across the region will range from 19°C in upland areas of Bukidnon to as high as 34°C in lowland and coastal areas.
Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN: Warm with Scattered Showers
The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental, will generally experience fair weather conditions with chances of afternoon or evening thunderstorms.
Daytime temperatures may climb as high as 36°C, particularly in Davao del Norte, before rain showers bring temporary relief.
Similar weather patterns are expected in North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani.
Caraga and BARMM: Thunderstorms Possible
In the Caraga region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
In the Bangsamoro region, conditions will vary. Cotabato City, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur will have isolated rain showers, while Basilan and Lanao del Sur will continue to experience cloudy skies with more frequent rainfall.
Sea Conditions and Public Advisory
Across Mindanao, winds will remain light to moderate coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters—generally safe for small sea vessels, although caution is still advised during thunderstorms.
PAGASA urged residents, especially those in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas, to remain vigilant and monitor updates. Local disaster risk reduction offices are also advised to prepare for possible weather-related incidents as easterlies continue to influence the region.
