DAVAO CITY — Most parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms from Monday morning, February 2, until early Tuesday, February 3, according to the latest regional weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5:00 a.m. advisory, PAGASA-Mindanao said the weather pattern is being influenced by localized thunderstorms, which may bring brief but occasionally intense rainfall in several provinces. Authorities warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying areas and communities near mountain slopes and river systems.

Light to moderate winds are expected to blow from the northeast to northwest across the region, while coastal waters will range from slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 and 2.5 meters. Fisherfolk and small sea craft operators are advised to monitor weather updates, especially during thunderstorm episodes.

Zamboanga Peninsula

Residents of Zamboanga City, Isabela City, and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay can expect partly cloudy skies that may turn cloudy at times, accompanied by rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures across the peninsula will range from 21 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Coastal waters in the area will remain slight to moderate, while winds will be light to moderate from the northeast to northwest.

Northern Mindanao

In Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, similar weather conditions are forecast. Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 18 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Bukidnon, particularly its upland areas, may experience cooler temperatures during the early morning hours, while coastal provinces such as Camiguin and Misamis Oriental may see intermittent rain due to localized thunderstorm activity.

Davao Region

Metro Davao and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures in the region may reach as high as 33 degrees Celsius, particularly in coastal and lowland areas. PAGASA noted that while rainfall may be brief, intense thunderstorms could still pose flooding risks in flood-prone zones.

SOCCSKSARGEN

In SOCCSKSARGEN, covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, weather conditions will remain generally fair with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures in the area will range from 21 to 34 degrees Celsius. Coastal waters, especially in Sarangani and South Cotabato, will remain slight to moderate, but caution is advised during thunderstorm activity.

Caraga Region

The Caraga region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA noted that coastal waters in Agusan del Norte may become moderate to rough at times, while other coastal areas in the region will have slight to moderate sea conditions. Temperatures are expected to range between 23 and 32 degrees Celsius.

BARMM

In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, weather conditions will remain generally fair with occasional rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures in BARMM provinces will range from 20 to 33 degrees Celsius. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with light to moderate winds prevailing throughout the forecast period.

Advisory

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant, especially during afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorms are more likely to develop. Local disaster risk reduction and management offices are urged to closely monitor weather conditions and prepare for possible weather-related incidents.
