CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines (June 20, 2026) — Large parts of Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as localized thunderstorms continue to affect the region, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD).

In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin on Saturday, PAGASA warned residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant, especially during severe thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
“Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms,” PAGASA said, adding that sudden heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds may accompany stronger thunderstorm activity.
Rain Showers Expected Across Mindanao
The forecast covers provinces and cities across the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C.
The same weather pattern is expected in Northern Mindanao, where Bukidnon may experience temperatures ranging from 19°C to 33°C, while Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental are expected to record temperatures between 24°C and 32°C.
Across the Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, isolated thunderstorms may develop throughout the day. Temperatures in the region could reach as high as 34°C, particularly in Metro Davao and Davao del Norte.
Meanwhile, residents in SOCCSKSARGEN, comprising North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, are also advised to prepare for intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 33°C.
In the Caraga Region, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands are expected to experience similar weather conditions. Some areas may record temperatures reaching up to 35°C, among the highest forecast temperatures in Mindanao.
The forecast likewise covers BARMM provinces, including Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Cotabato City, where isolated thunderstorms may bring brief but intense rainfall throughout the forecast period.
Sea Conditions Remain Favorable
PAGASA reported that coastal waters across Mindanao will generally remain safe for small fishing vessels and other sea-going activities.
The eastern section of Mindanao, including parts of the Davao Region and Caraga, will experience light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest, generating slight to moderate seas with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.
The rest of Mindanao, including western and southern sections, will experience light to moderate winds from the southwest to west, also resulting in slight to moderate sea conditions with waves between 0.6 and 1.2 meters.
Public Advised to Remain Alert
Despite the generally fair weather conditions expected across much of Mindanao, PAGASA emphasized that localized thunderstorms can develop rapidly, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
Residents living in low-lying areas, near rivers, and in landslide-prone communities are advised to monitor weather updates and take precautionary measures should severe thunderstorms occur.
Motorists are likewise urged to exercise caution on roads that may become slippery due to sudden rainfall, while fishermen and small boat operators are encouraged to monitor local weather advisories before heading out to sea.
The forecast remains valid from 5:00 a.m. on June 20 until 5:00 a.m. on June 21, 2026.
PAGASA continues to monitor weather conditions across Mindanao and advises the public to stay informed through official weather bulletins and advisories.
