The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has forecast generally fair but unstable weather conditions across Mindanao, with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms expected to persist from Sunday morning until early Monday.

According to the 5:00 AM regional weather bulletin issued by PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the entire island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to localized thunderstorms. While much of the day may remain dry, sudden downpours are likely, particularly in the afternoon and evening.

Authorities warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and monitor updates from local disaster risk reduction offices.

Winds and Coastal Conditions

Across Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate, generally coming from the northeast to northwest. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters, making sea travel relatively manageable but still requiring caution, particularly during thunderstorms.

In Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, similar weather patterns will prevail.

Davao Region

The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will experience temperatures between 23°C and 35°C.

Localized thunderstorms may bring short bursts of heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds.

SOCCSKSARGEN

In SOCCSKSARGEN, including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C.

The region will also experience similar weather conditions, with partly cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms.

Caraga Region

In Caraga Region, covering Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, temperatures will range from 21°C to 33°C.

Afternoon or evening thunderstorms may develop, posing risks of localized flooding.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures will range from 21°C to 34°C, with light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

Advisory

PAGASA continues to advise the public to remain alert for sudden weather changes. Communities in landslide- and flood-prone areas are urged to take precautionary measures, especially during heavy thunderstorms.

Fisherfolk and small sea vessels are likewise advised to exercise caution when venturing out to sea, particularly during periods of inclement weather.
