MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has forecast generally fair but unstable weather conditions across Mindanao, with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms expected to persist from Monday morning, April 13, until early Tuesday.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that the entire Mindanao island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, punctuated by localized thunderstorms that may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable and mountainous areas.
Winds across the island will remain light to moderate, blowing from the northeast to north, while coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters, posing minimal risk to small sea vessels but still requiring caution.
Zamboanga Peninsula: Warm with Intermittent Storms
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City and nearby provinces, residents can expect temperatures ranging from 23°C to 34°C. Skies will shift between partly cloudy and overcast conditions, with rainshowers or thunderstorms developing intermittently.
Winds in the region will vary from north to northwest or northeast, remaining light to moderate, while coastal conditions stay manageable.
Northern Mindanao: Cooler Highlands, Coastal Showers
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, and Lanao del Norte will see temperatures between 18°C and 33°C.
Localized thunderstorms are expected to develop, especially in the afternoon and evening, bringing short but sometimes intense downpours. Coastal areas, including Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental, will maintain slight to moderate sea conditions.
Davao Region: Warm and Humid with Rain Chances
The Davao Region, including Davao City and neighboring provinces, will experience warm and humid conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C.
Rainshowers and thunderstorms may occur throughout the day, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Coastal waters remain relatively calm, but PAGASA warns of sudden weather changes during thunderstorms.
SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga: Thunderstorm Threat Persists
In SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga, similar weather patterns prevail, with partly cloudy skies turning cloudy during thunderstorms.
Temperatures in inland areas such as North Cotabato and Agusan del Sur may reach up to 35°C, while coastal provinces like Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands will experience slightly cooler conditions.
BARMM Areas: Stable but Alert for Sudden Rains
In the Bangsamoro region, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, weather conditions will remain generally fair with intermittent rainshowers.
Temperatures will range from 19°C in upland areas like Lanao del Sur to as high as 36°C in parts of Maguindanao del Sur.
Public Advisory
PAGASA urged residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides, as localized thunderstorms may intensify without warning. Farmers, fisherfolk, and disaster response units are advised to monitor updates and take necessary precautions.
Despite generally manageable sea conditions, small boat operators are encouraged to stay alert during sudden weather disturbances.
The state weather bureau continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and will issue updates as necessary.
