MANILA, Philippines — April 11, 2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned that much of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional forecast issued through the Mindanao PAGASA Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), state weather forecasters said localized thunderstorms will continue to affect several provinces across the island from early Saturday until Sunday morning.

Widespread Thunderstorm Activity

Weather conditions across Mindanao will remain unstable, with intermittent rainshowers expected to develop particularly in the afternoon and evening. PAGASA emphasized that while rainfall may be localized, severe thunderstorms could trigger sudden flooding in low-lying communities and landslides in mountainous areas.

Wind conditions across the island will generally be light to moderate, blowing from the northeast to north, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

Zamboanga Peninsula

In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures in the region will range between 24°C and 34°C. Coastal conditions will remain generally calm to moderate, favorable for small sea vessels but with caution advised during thunderstorms.

Northern Mindanao

Areas in Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, will experience similar weather patterns.

Temperature ranges are expected between 20°C and 34°C, with coastal areas seeing slightly cooler conditions. Thunderstorms may bring brief but intense downpours.

Davao Region

The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will also see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

Daytime temperatures could reach up to 35°C, particularly in inland areas, while coastal zones will experience slightly cooler conditions.

SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga

In SOCCSKSARGEN—covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C with similar thunderstorm activity.

Meanwhile, the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will also experience scattered rainshowers with temperatures between 24°C and 33°C.

BARMM Areas

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will likewise see partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms.

Temperatures in these areas will range from 21°C to 34°C, with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate.

Public Advised to Stay Alert

PAGASA urged residents, especially those in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas, to remain vigilant during thunderstorms. Fisherfolk and small vessel operators were also advised to exercise caution, particularly when weather conditions suddenly deteriorate.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as localized thunderstorms persist across Mindanao, bringing unpredictable but potentially hazardous weather conditions over the weekend.
