Residents across Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as the easterlies continue to affect the region, according to the regional weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The forecast, released at 5:00 a.m. on March 2, 2026, covers the period from 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow and warns that severe thunderstorms could trigger localized flash floods or landslides in vulnerable communities.
Weather specialists from PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) said the prevailing easterlies—warm winds coming from the Pacific—are expected to bring intermittent rains across several provinces, particularly in coastal and mountainous areas.
Rainfall Expected Across Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, as well as the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, skies will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with occasional rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures in the area are expected to range between 22°C and 34°C.
Winds in these areas will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Northern Mindanao provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, where temperatures may reach up to 34°C in some areas.
Thunderstorms Likely in Davao Region
In the Davao Region, including Davao City and nearby provinces such as Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, residents can also expect partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms throughout the day and night.
Temperatures in the region are forecast to range from around 22°C to as high as 34°C, with moderate winds likely to affect some coastal areas.
SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga Also Affected
In the SOCCSKSARGEN region, including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with rainshowers and thunderstorms are also expected.
Temperatures may range between 21°C and 34°C, while winds will remain generally light to moderate.
Meanwhile, provinces in the Caraga region such as Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands are expected to experience similar weather patterns, with moderate winds in coastal areas and temperatures reaching up to 33°C.
BARMM Areas Advised to Remain Alert
Areas under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also experience scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C in some areas.
PAGASA forecasters warned that communities in low-lying and landslide-prone areas should remain alert, especially during periods of intense thunderstorms that may develop throughout the day.
Authorities also advised fishermen and small sea craft operators to exercise caution as coastal waters across Mindanao will remain slight to moderate, particularly in areas experiencing moderate winds.
PAGASA said it will continue monitoring weather conditions across Mindanao and urged the public to stay updated through official advisories as localized thunderstorms may intensify quickly.
