Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms from March 1 to early March 2, as easterlies continue to affect the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its latest regional forecast issued at 5:00 AM, PAGASA said the prevailing easterlies — warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean — will bring unstable weather conditions across the island. While most areas will see intervals of sunshine, localized thunderstorms may develop, potentially triggering flash floods or landslides in vulnerable communities.

Authorities are advising residents, especially those in low-lying and mountainous areas, to remain alert as severe thunderstorms could occur within the forecast period from 5:00 AM Sunday until 5:00 AM Monday.

Zamboanga Peninsula

Weather conditions in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with occasional rain showers or thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with temperatures generally ranging between 21°C and 33°C depending on location and time of day.

Northern Mindanao

In Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, similar weather patterns are expected with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms developing at times.
Temperatures in the region may range from 20°C to 30°C, with winds generally light to moderate from the northeast to north. Coastal conditions will remain slight to moderate, though moderate seas may occur in some island areas like Camiguin.

Davao Region

Across the Davao Region — including Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental — residents can expect partly cloudy skies turning cloudy at times with rain showers or thunderstorms.
Temperatures across the region may range between 21°C and 32°C, with moderate winds affecting coastal provinces such as Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental.

SOCCSKSARGEN

In North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, PAGASA forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with possible rain showers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures may range from 20°C to 31°C, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

Caraga Region

Weather conditions will remain unsettled in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, where moderate winds and moderate coastal seas are expected along with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures across the region may reach 23°C to 31°C.

BARMM Areas

In areas under the Bangsamoro region — including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur — similar weather patterns will prevail, with partly cloudy skies and occasional thunderstorms.
Temperature ranges in these areas may vary from 19°C to 32°C, the lowest recorded in parts of Lanao del Sur.

Sea and Wind Conditions

Across Mindanao, winds will generally be light to moderate from the northeast to north, while sea conditions will be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

PAGASA continues to remind residents, fishermen, and small sea vessel operators to monitor weather updates, particularly in coastal communities where sudden thunderstorms may affect sea travel and fishing activities. Local disaster risk reduction offices are also urged to stay prepared for possible localized flooding or landslides caused by intense downpours.
