EL SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental — The state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms across Mindanao, as the easterlies continue to affect the region from 5:00 a.m. Tuesday (March 3, 2026) until 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the regional weather outlook issued by PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the weather system may trigger localized severe thunderstorms that could lead to flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas. Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant, especially during sudden heavy downpours.
Widespread Rain Showers Expected
Most provinces and cities across Mindanao are expected to experience similar weather conditions—partly cloudy skies turning cloudy at times, accompanied by scattered rain showers or thunderstorms.
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures are forecast to range between 21°C and 34°C, with light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to north. Coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate.
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will also experience similar weather patterns, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 31°C.
Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN Also Affected
Across the Davao Region, including Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, temperatures are expected to range between 23°C and 33°C, with occasional thunderstorms possible throughout the forecast period.
Meanwhile, in SOCCSKSARGEN provinces—North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—temperatures could reach up to 33°C, while cloudy intervals and rain showers are likely during the day and night.
Rain Likely in Caraga and BARMM
In the Caraga Region, provinces including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands are forecast to experience temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C, with intermittent thunderstorms possible.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will also see similar weather conditions in Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, where temperatures may climb as high as 34°C in some areas.
Sea Conditions and Winds
Across Mindanao, winds are expected to remain light to moderate from the northeast to north, while sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 to 2.5 meters. Fisherfolk and small seacraft operators are advised to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms that may suddenly intensify conditions at sea.
Advisory to Residents
PAGASA advised residents across Mindanao to stay alert for rapidly developing thunderstorms that may bring heavy rainfall within a short period. Local disaster risk reduction and management offices are also urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for possible flooding or landslides in vulnerable communities.
The agency continues to monitor weather conditions affecting the region and encourages the public to follow official updates and advisories.
