Mindanao residents can expect generally fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies across most provinces this Friday, October 17, according to the latest regional weather forecast released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) – Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD).

However, the weather bureau cautioned the public to remain vigilant as localized thunderstorms may develop, bringing isolated rainshowers that could lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.

General Conditions Across Mindanao

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to east will prevail throughout the island, with slight to moderate seas ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters. Daytime temperatures are expected to be warm and humid, particularly during mid-morning to afternoon, before scattered thunderstorms develop later in the day.


Zamboanga Peninsula

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, del Sur, Sibugay, and Isabela City will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with localized rainshowers or thunderstorms.
  • Winds will be light to moderate from the southeast to east, while coastal waters remain slight to moderate.
  • Temperatures range from 23°C to 35°C, with the highest expected in Zamboanga City.

Northern Mindanao

  • Provinces including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental can anticipate warm mornings followed by occasional afternoon or evening thunderstorms.
  • Winds remain light to moderate from the southeast to east, with coastal seas slightly moderate.
  • Temperatures will vary from 20°C to 33°C, with Bukidnon experiencing cooler conditions due to its elevation.

Davao Region

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental are forecast to have partly cloudy skies and possible rainshowers or thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening.
  • Winds will be light to moderate from the southeast to east, maintaining calm to slightly choppy seas.
  • Temperatures may reach up to 34°C, particularly in Davao City and Davao Oriental.

SOCCSKSARGEN Region

  • North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will continue to experience warm and humid weather, with intermittent thunderstorms expected later in the day.
  • Winds are light to moderate, coming from the southeast to east, and seas remain slight to moderate.
  • Maximum temperatures range from 32°C to 34°C.

Caraga Region

  • Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with possible thunderstorms by afternoon or evening.
  • Winds will blow lightly to moderately from the southeast to east, with slightly moderate coastal waters.
  • Temperatures will hover between 24°C and 34°C.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

  • Provinces including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi can expect partly cloudy weather throughout the day, turning cloudy with localized thunderstorms later on.
  • Winds remain light to moderate, varying between southeast and east, with coastal seas slight to moderate.
  • Daytime temperatures may reach up to 34°C, particularly in Cotabato City and Maguindanao.
