Cagayan de Oro City – In a decisive move against illegal drug operations, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office X (PDEA RO-X) Camiguin Provincial Office, with the support of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Station 8 (COCPO PS8), successfully dismantled a suspected drug den in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City. The operation took place on November 12, 2024, targeting a site believed to be a local hub for drug transactions.
The coordinated buy-bust operation led to the arrest of four individuals, including the alleged drug den maintainer, identified as Alias Al, 29. Arrested alongside him were three other individuals: Alias Jov, 39; Alias JJ, 18; and Alias Ford, 20. All are residents of Barangay Lumbia. Authorities seized approximately 10 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of ₱68,000.
The suspects are now facing charges under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law, enacted to address the country’s drug challenges, imposes strict penalties on drug possession, trafficking, and the maintenance of drug dens.
This recent accomplishment highlights PDEA RO-X’s dedication to protecting Northern Mindanao communities from the pervasive threat of illegal drugs. “The dismantling of this drug den is a testament to our ongoing commitment to a drug-free region,” a PDEA official stated, underscoring the agency’s firm stance on eradicating drug-related activities through constant vigilance and collaboration with local law enforcement.
PDEA RO-X affirmed its dedication to continuing such operations, reiterating its mission to secure a safer environment for residents of Cagayan de Oro and beyond. This operation is part of the agency’s broader objective to contribute to the national campaign for a drug-free Philippines, ensuring that communities are safeguarded from the harmful effects of illegal substances.
