Cagayan de Oro City — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office X, in coordination with local and national police agencies, successfully apprehended a high-value drug target in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, on November 6, 2024. The operation, led by the PDEA Misamis Oriental Provincial Office alongside PNP COCPO Police Station 3, the PNP Intelligence Group, and the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, resulted in the arrest of a regional drug personality known by the aliases “Aki” and “Yvor.”
The suspect, ranked as the Top 9 Regional Drug Personality, was apprehended with 10 grams of shabu, valued at approximately Php 68,000, based on the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) estimates. The seized drugs will be submitted as evidence, and the individual now faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165), which mandates severe penalties for involvement in illegal drug activities.
This successful operation underscores PDEA RO-X’s ongoing commitment to curbing drug-related crime in the region. By targeting high-value individuals and dismantling distribution networks, PDEA and its partners continue to work toward safer communities in Northern Mindanao.
