PDEA Dismantles Drug Den in Cagayan de Oro, Four Arrested in Buy-Bust Operation

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines – In a decisive blow to illegal drug operations, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office X (PDEA RO-X), with support from local police, dismantled a drug den in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, on the evening of November 7, 2024. The operation, conducted by PDEA RO-X’s Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET) in collaboration with the Misamis Oriental Provincial Office and Police Station 3 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, resulted in the arrest of four individuals connected to the drug trade.

Authorities seized approximately 6 grams of suspected shabu, valued at PHP 40,800 according to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), during the bust. The substances were secured as evidence for further legal proceedings.

Among those apprehended was Alias Ivan, 29, a resident of Barangay Lapasan and the alleged maintainer of the drug den. Three other suspects—Alias Fredo, 35; Alias Ric, 24; and Alias Sendo, 23—were also detained. All suspects are residents of Barangay Lapasan.

The individuals face charges under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes involvement in drug-related activities, including drug den maintenance and possession of illegal substances.

PDEA RO-X reaffirmed its dedication to combating illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to ensuring safer communities through the eradication of drug-related activities. This operation serves as a testament to the agency’s resolve to uphold public safety and curb the drug trade in the region.
