Davao Region played host to an enriching countryside tour for officials of Philippine Airlines (PAL) and recipients of the PAL Awards Philippines and International on March 4 and 6, 2025. Organized by the Department of Tourism XI (DOT XI), the tour highlighted the region’s rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, and strong partnership with the airline industry.

The delegation’s journey commenced at Malagos Garden Resort, where they experienced the Bird Feeding Dome, interacting with various avian species, including those native to the Philippines. They also explored the Chocolate Museum, where they learned about Davao’s significant role in the country’s cacao heritage and chocolate-making traditions.

A visit to the Philippine Eagle Center (PEC) underscored PAL’s long-standing commitment to conservation. As a dedicated partner of the Philippine Eagle Foundation, PAL has continuously supported efforts to protect the endangered Philippine Eagle through donations of miles and the transportation of eagles on commercial flights.

The City Government of Davao co-hosted a luncheon at Malagos Garden Resort, where DOT XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan expressed her gratitude to PAL for selecting Davao Region as the venue for both their PAL Awards Philippines and International. She emphasized how the airline’s collaboration with the tourism sector contributes to the promotion and sustainability of the region’s attractions.

The tour concluded at Poblacion Shopping Center, where the visitors enjoyed local delicacies and a variety of unique products that showcased the best of Davao’s offerings.

DOT XI extended its appreciation to Philippine Airlines for choosing Davao as the site for these prestigious events, reinforcing the region’s potential in tourism, conservation, and investment opportunities.
