Davao City — In a major anti-illegal drug operation, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) arrested a suspected high-value drug personality and confiscated more than ₱15 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation Thursday evening, May 14, 2026, in Barangay Bago Gallera.

The operation, conducted at around 8:00 p.m. inside Villa Conchita Subdivision, was led by personnel of Police Station 17-Baliok under the direct supervision of DCPO City Director Peter Bauzon Madria and Station Commander Harold S. Untalan.

Authorities identified the arrested suspect only by the alias “Bai,” who was tagged as a High-Value Individual (HVI) involved in the illegal drug trade. The suspect now faces charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, as well as violations of Republic Act No. 10591.

Recovered from the suspect were several sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱15,640,000, along with one caliber .357 revolver loaded with two live rounds of ammunition.

Police said the seizure of the illegal drugs dealt a significant blow to the operations of drug syndicates in the city and prevented the possible spread of narcotics into local communities.

The operation was personally supervised by top DCPO officials, underscoring what authorities described as the intensified and hands-on approach of the police leadership in combating illegal drugs and criminality in the city.

According to the DCPO, the successful operation reflects the agency’s continuing commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring public safety across Davao City.

Madria stressed that the DCPO would further strengthen intelligence-driven operations, increase police visibility, and sustain aggressive anti-criminality campaigns in line with their mandate to maintain peace and order.

“The Davao City Police Office remains steadfast in its mission to protect the people and preserve the peace. Operations like this are not only aimed at arresting offenders but also at saving lives, protecting the youth, and ensuring that communities in Davao City remain safe from the destructive effects of illegal drugs,” Madria said.

He also called on the public to continue cooperating with authorities by reporting suspicious activities and supporting law enforcement initiatives aimed at achieving a drug-free and peaceful community.

The suspect remains under police custody pending the filing of appropriate charges.
