DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has intensified its campaign against illegal drugs with the successful arrest of two high-value drug suspects in separate operations, resulting in the confiscation of more than ₱183,800 worth of suspected shabu and the recovery of two unlicensed firearms.
The operations, conducted on July 31 and August 2, 2026, underscore the DCPO’s continuing commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks through intelligence-driven law enforcement operations.
The latest operation took place at around 1:09 a.m. on August 2 in Purok 28, POB. City Jail Road, Barangay Ma-a, where operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU)/City Special Operations Group (CSOG), led by Police Major Bernie B. Suaga, carried out a joint buy-bust operation.
The operation was conducted in close coordination with the Regional Special Operations Group 11 (RSOG 11), the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies, Police Station 16–Ma-a, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region XI (PDEA XI).
Authorities arrested a High-Value Individual (HVI) recidivist and confiscated approximately 17 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱115,800, along with one .45 caliber firearm.
Just days earlier, on July 31, personnel of Police Station 4–Sasa, under the leadership of Police Major Raymundo B. Bacera Jr., implemented a search warrant in Purok 1, Muslim Village, Km. 11, Barangay Sasa, Davao City.
The operation led to the arrest of another High-Value Individual, identified only by the alias “Bunjong.” Authorities seized more than ₱68,000 worth of suspected shabu and recovered one .38 caliber revolver, dealing another significant setback to illegal drug activities in the city.
Police said the twin operations demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated efforts among the DCPO, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, specialized police units, barangay officials, the local government, and the active participation of the Davaoeño community in combating illegal drugs.
DCPO City Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria commended the operating units for their professionalism and dedication, emphasizing that the recent accomplishments reflect the police force’s unwavering resolve to rid Davao City of illegal drugs and criminality.
“The success of these operations highlights our relentless commitment to intelligence-driven law enforcement and our determination to protect every Davaoeño from the threats posed by illegal drugs,” Madria said.
He further stressed that the DCPO will continue to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and sustain aggressive anti-drug operations to ensure that individuals involved in the illegal drug trade are brought to justice while maintaining peace and public safety throughout the city.
The confiscated suspected shabu and firearms have been placed under police custody for proper documentation and laboratory examination, while the arrested suspects are now facing appropriate charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165), with additional charges to be filed under the country’s firearms laws.
