DAVAO CITY — A regional priority target and alleged recidivist was arrested during a joint anti-illegal drug operation in Davao City on the evening of August 12, 2026, with authorities seizing approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P340,000.
The suspect was apprehended at around 7:03 p.m. in Purok 7, Jacinto Extension, Barangay 32-D, Davao City, following a buy-bust operation conducted by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU)/City Special Operations Group (CSOG).
The operation was led by Police Major Bernie B. Suaga and carried out in close coordination with the Regional Special Operations Group 11 (RSOG 11), the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies, Police Station 2 – San Pedro, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XI (PDEA XI).
Police identified the arrested individual as a Regional Priority Target and recidivist, indicating that the suspect had previously come to the attention of authorities in connection with illegal drug activities. Authorities, however, did not provide additional details regarding the suspect’s previous case or cases.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel confiscated approximately 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated value of P340,000.
The seized substance will be subjected to the appropriate examination and documentation as part of the ongoing investigation and case build-up. Authorities are expected to pursue the filing of appropriate charges against the suspect based on the evidence recovered during the operation.
The arrest highlights the continuing coordination among specialized police units and drug enforcement authorities in targeting individuals identified by law enforcement as priority suspects in the illegal drug trade.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) City Director Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria commended the operating units for the successful operation.
Madria also reaffirmed the DCPO’s commitment to conducting intelligence-driven and sustained anti-illegal drug operations as part of efforts to suppress the distribution of dangerous drugs and maintain public safety in Davao City.
Authorities emphasized that the operation was conducted through coordinated law enforcement efforts involving the city’s drug enforcement personnel, mobile force units, police station personnel, regional special operations forces, and PDEA XI.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated evidence were placed under proper police custody and documentation as authorities proceed with the necessary legal and investigative procedures.
The suspect remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
