DAVAO CITY — A police operation targeting an alleged high-value individual (HVI) resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug personalities and the seizure of suspected shabu worth approximately ₱187,000 in Davao City late Friday night, August 7, 2026.
The operation was conducted at around 10:58 p.m. in Purok 5, Sto. Niño, Barangay 23-C, by personnel of Police Station 18–Bajada of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
Police identified the primary target as alias “Bata,” who was classified by authorities as a high-value individual in the illegal drug trade. His live-in partner was also arrested during the operation.
The arrests came after police operatives carried out a buy-bust operation in the area as part of continuing efforts to disrupt the distribution of illegal drugs in the city.
Authorities recovered suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱187,000.
The seized substance was secured by the operating team for proper documentation and submission to the appropriate authorities for examination and disposition in accordance with standard procedures.
The operation was led by PMAJ Marc Anthony C. Egos, chief of Police Station 18–Bajada, under the supervision of PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria, City Director of the DCPO.
In a statement, Madria commended the police personnel involved in the operation, describing the arrest and drug seizure as another significant accomplishment in the city’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs.
The DCPO emphasized that the operation also demonstrated the importance of cooperation among law enforcement agencies, local government officials and community members in identifying and addressing illegal drug activities.
Authorities said sustained police operations remain crucial in preventing illegal drugs from reaching communities and in dismantling networks involved in their distribution.
The latest operation also highlights the continued focus of police authorities on individuals considered major players in the local drug trade, particularly those classified as high-value targets.
The two arrested suspects are expected to face appropriate charges under the country’s Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, subject to the completion of the investigation and evaluation of the evidence recovered during the operation.
The DCPO reiterated its call for residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities by reporting suspected illegal drug activities in their communities.
Police officials said the collective efforts of law enforcement and the public remain essential to maintaining peace and security and to achieving a safer and drug-free Davao City.
