Residents across Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as easterlies continue to influence weather conditions in the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its regional weather forecast issued at 5:00 a.m. on March 8, PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division said the easterlies—warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean—will affect most parts of the island from 5:00 a.m. Sunday until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Forecasters warned that although most areas will experience generally fair weather, localized thunderstorms may develop throughout the day, bringing sudden downpours that could trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Zamboanga Peninsula

Provinces in the Zamboanga Peninsula including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City will experience partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures across the peninsula are expected to range from 21°C to 34°C, with light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to north. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, though moderate seas may occur in some areas, particularly in Zamboanga del Norte.

Northern Mindanao

In Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, similar weather conditions are forecast.

Temperatures are expected to range from 17°C to 31°C in upland areas such as Bukidnon and up to 30°C to 32°C in coastal provinces. Winds will remain light to moderate from the northeast to north, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate, except in Camiguin where seas may reach moderate conditions.

Davao Region

Areas in the Davao Region, including Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Metro Davao, will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures in the region may range between 20°C and 33°C, while winds will remain light to moderate from the northeast to north. Coastal waters are expected to stay slight to moderate, although moderate seas may occur along the eastern coastline.

SOCCSKSARGEN

In the SOCCSKSARGEN region—covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—residents should also expect partly cloudy skies with possible thunderstorms.

Temperatures will range from 21°C to 33°C, with light to moderate winds from the northeast and generally slight to moderate coastal waters.

Caraga Region

Provinces in the Caraga Region—including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands—may experience moderate winds and seas due to their exposure to the Pacific Ocean.

Temperatures will range between 22°C and 33°C, with rainshowers and thunderstorms possible throughout the day.

Bangsamoro Region

In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, weather conditions will remain similar with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible thunderstorms.

Temperatures may range from 20°C to 34°C, with moderate winds and moderate coastal waters expected in island provinces such as Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Advisory

PAGASA advised residents to remain vigilant during thunderstorms as heavy rainfall within short periods may cause flash floods or landslides, especially in mountainous and flood-prone communities.

Fisherfolk and small sea vessels were also urged to monitor local weather updates, particularly in areas experiencing moderate seas.

The weather bureau continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and encouraged the public to stay updated through official PAGASA advisories and local disaster risk reduction offices.
