Mindanao is expected to experience generally fair to cloudy weather with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, according to the Regional Weather Forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)–Mindanao on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

In its 5:00 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said localized thunderstorms will affect large parts of the region from 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. These weather conditions may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas, especially during periods of intense rainfall.

Light to moderate winds coming from the northwest to southwest are forecast to prevail across Mindanao, while coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are advised to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms.

Zamboanga Peninsula

In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are forecast to range from 22°C to 33°C. Coastal conditions will remain slight to moderate, accompanied by light to moderate winds.

Northern Mindanao

Northern Mindanao provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will also experience similar weather conditions. PAGASA forecasts intermittent rains and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 31°C. Coastal areas, particularly in Camiguin and Misamis provinces, may see slight to moderate sea conditions.

Davao Region

In the Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected. Daytime temperatures may reach as high as 34°C in some areas, while nighttime lows may drop to around 23°C. Coastal waters are expected to remain manageable but may become rough during storm activity.

SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga

Provinces in the SOCCSKSARGEN region—North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—are forecast to experience occasional rains and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 34°C. Meanwhile, Caraga provinces, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will also see cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall, accompanied by light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal conditions.

BARMM Areas

In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, similar weather patterns are expected. PAGASA noted that Sulu may experience moderate to strong winds at times, while other areas will have light to moderate winds. Temperatures in the region may range from 19°C to 34°C.

Public Advisory

PAGASA urged local government units, disaster risk reduction offices, and the general public to remain alert for possible weather-related hazards. Residents in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas are advised to monitor weather updates closely and take precautionary measures, especially during heavy downpours.

Motorists are reminded to exercise caution on wet and slippery roads, while farmers and fisherfolk are encouraged to plan their activities in consideration of the prevailing weather conditions.

For further updates, the public may contact PAGASA-Mindanao or visit its official website at bagong.pagasa.dost.gov.ph.
