February 7, 2026 — Mindanao

Cloudy skies, scattered to widespread rains, and strong winds are expected to affect large parts of Mindanao as Tropical Depression (TD) “Basyang” continues to influence weather conditions in the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its latest regional weather forecast issued at 5:00 a.m. on February 7, PAGASA reported that the center of TD Basyang was last located in the coastal waters of Baclayon, Bohol, at around 3:00 p.m. on February 6. The weather system was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour, and was moving west-southwestward at 15 kilometers per hour.

Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga, Caraga Most Affected

PAGASA said Northern Mindanao, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Caraga Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as a direct effect of TD Basyang.

Moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall is expected in these areas, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities.

Provinces and areas under this advisory include:

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City
  • Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental
  • Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands

Daytime and nighttime temperatures in these areas are forecast to range from 20°C to 33°C.

Other Parts of Mindanao to See Localized Thunderstorms

Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao, including the Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and parts of BARMM, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to localized weather systems.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms in these areas may still trigger flash floods and landslides, especially during periods of intense rainfall.

Affected areas include:

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental
  • North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani
  • Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi

Temperatures in these regions are expected to range from 22°C to 34°C.

Strong Winds, Rough Seas Expected

Across most of Mindanao, moderate to strong winds blowing from the northwest to southwest are expected, with some areas experiencing northeast to northwest winds.

Coastal waters are forecast to be moderate to rough, with wave heights ranging from 1.2 to 3.1 meters. PAGASA advised fishermen, small boat operators, and maritime travelers to exercise extreme caution and avoid sailing in risky conditions.

Public Advised to Stay Alert

With TD Basyang still influencing weather patterns, PAGASA urged local government units, disaster response agencies, and residents to remain vigilant, especially in flood- and landslide-prone areas.

The public is advised to:

  • Monitor official weather updates
  • Prepare emergency supplies
  • Avoid crossing flooded roads and rivers
  • Secure homes and fishing vessels against strong winds

PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division said weather conditions will continue to be closely monitored, and further advisories will be issued as the situation develops.
