July 25, 2025 – Mindanao – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued its latest regional weather forecast for Mindanao, warning of continued monsoon rains and thunderstorms as Typhoon “Emong” {Co-May} and other tropical systems influence the country’s weather patterns.
As of 3:00 AM today, Typhoon “Emong” was spotted over the coastal waters of Bacnotan, La Union (16.7°N, 120.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gusts reaching 165 km/h, moving northeastward at 20 km/h.
Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Tropical Storm Francisco (formerly “Dante”) was monitored 740 km north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (26.9°N, 124.7°E), with winds of 65 km/h and gusts of 80 km/h. Another system, Tropical Storm Krosa, was estimated 2,030 km east of Southeastern Luzon, moving northwestward at 10 km/h with similar wind strength.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon continues to affect Mindanao, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms across the region. Winds will be moderate from the southwest with moderate seas ranging from 1.0 to 2.5 meters.
