Mindanao Braces for Monsoon Showers Amid Two Storms Outside PARPAGASA issues regional weather forecast for July 24, 2025
Mindanao — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported Thursday morning that the southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to affect the entire Mindanao region, bringing scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms across all provinces.
Although Tropical Storm “DANTE” (international name: Francisco) and Severe Tropical Storm “EMONG” (Co-May) are both outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), their influence is helping enhance the monsoon system over the southern part of the country.
As of 3:00 AM, Tropical Storm DANTE was located 810 km east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, while Severe Tropical Storm EMONG was spotted 245 km west of Bacnotan, La Union. Both storms are not expected to directly hit Mindanao, but the moisture-laden winds they generate continue to drive rainfall in the region.
