MINDANAO, Philippines — September 10, 2026 — Most parts of Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or localized thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its Regional Weather Forecast for Mindanao (MINPRSD) issued at 5:00 a.m. on September 10, 2026, PAGASA said the forecast is valid from 5:00 a.m. Thursday until 5:00 a.m. Friday, September 11.
While generally fair weather may prevail at times, the weather bureau warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in areas that receive intense or prolonged rainfall.
PAGASA advised communities, motorists, commuters and residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas to remain alert for sudden changes in weather conditions, especially when thunderstorms develop.
Rainshowers and thunderstorms expected across Mindanao
The forecast covers areas in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay and Isabela City are expected to have partly cloudy skies becoming cloudy at times, with rainshowers or thunderstorms possible.
Temperatures in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte and Isabela City are forecast at 25°C to 32°C, while Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay may see temperatures between 24°C and 31°C during the forecast period.
Across Northern Mindanao, Bukidnon is expected to experience temperatures ranging from 19°C to 29°C, while Camiguin may record 27°C to 32°C. Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental may see 24°C to 31°C, while Misamis Oriental is forecast at 26°C to 31°C.
Rainshowers or thunderstorms may also occur in these areas as skies become cloudy at times.
Davao Region remains under thunderstorm watch
In the Davao Region, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected in Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental.
Metro Davao is forecast to experience temperatures of 27°C to 31°C, while Davao del Norte may range from 25°C to 30°C. Davao del Sur may see 26°C to 31°C, Davao Oriental 24°C to 30°C, Davao de Oro 24°C to 32°C, and Davao Occidental 24°C to 30°C.
SOCCSKSARGEN areas may also experience thunderstorms
In SOCCSKSARGEN, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms are forecast over North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.
Temperatures in North Cotabato are expected to range from 23°C to 32°C, while South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat may experience 23°C to 31°C. Sarangani is forecast at 24°C to 31°C.
Residents should remain particularly attentive to localized thunderstorms because rainfall can vary significantly from one locality to another.
Caraga also faces chances of rainshowers
For the Caraga Region, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands are likewise expected to experience partly cloudy skies that may become cloudy at times, with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Temperatures may reach 25°C to 32°C in Agusan del Norte, 23°C to 31°C in Agusan del Sur, 26°C to 32°C in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands, and 24°C to 32°C in Surigao del Sur.
BARMM provinces also included in the forecast
In the BARMM, Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur may also experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Lanao del Sur is expected to have the coolest temperatures among the listed BARMM areas, ranging from 21°C to 29°C, while Maguindanao del Sur could reach 33°C during the initial forecast period and as high as 36°C in the succeeding period.
Sulu and Tawi-Tawi are forecast to have temperatures of 26°C to 31°C, while Cotabato City may range from 23°C to 30°C. Basilan is expected to experience 25°C to 31°C, while Maguindanao del Norte may range from 25°C to 32°C.
Light to moderate winds, slight to moderate seas
PAGASA said winds across the region will generally be light to moderate from the south to southwest.
For coastal areas included in the forecast, sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights generally ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
The combination of occasional thunderstorms, gusty conditions near storm activity and changing sea conditions means coastal communities and small-craft operators should continue monitoring the latest weather advisories before heading out to sea.
Residents urged to stay alert
PAGASA’s warning on possible flash floods and landslides due to severe thunderstorms remains one of the most important concerns in the latest regional forecast.
Thunderstorms can produce intense rainfall within a short period, potentially causing water levels in rivers, creeks and drainage systems to rise rapidly. Mountainous and steep areas may also become vulnerable to landslides when heavy rain saturates the soil.
Residents in low-lying, flood-prone and landslide-prone communities are therefore encouraged to monitor official weather updates and follow advisories issued by local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
PAGASA also reminded the public that localized thunderstorms can develop rapidly, meaning conditions may change even when the weather initially appears calm.
