The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has forecast generally unsettled weather conditions across Mindanao, with localized thunderstorms expected to continue affecting large parts of the island from 5:00 AM on April 9 until 5:00 AM the following day.

According to PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the entire island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms triggered by localized weather disturbances. While most areas will have fair weather for portions of the day, forecasters warned that thunderstorms may intensify, bringing the risk of flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities.

Winds across Mindanao will be light to moderate, generally coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.4 to 1.8 meters, posing minimal risk to small sea vessels but still requiring caution during thunderstorms.

Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao

Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures will range between 23°C and 34°C. Weather conditions will remain partly cloudy with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.

In Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, temperatures will range from 22°C to 34°C. Similar weather patterns prevail, with intermittent thunderstorms expected.

Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN

The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will see some of the warmest temperatures, peaking between 35°C and 36°C. Despite the heat, rain showers and thunderstorms remain likely, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Meanwhile, the SOCCSKSARGEN region—including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani—will experience temperatures ranging from 24°C to 36°C, with similar partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and isolated thunderstorms.

Caraga and BARMM Areas

In the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, temperatures will range between 23°C and 35°C, with thunderstorms likely to develop intermittently.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), covering Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also experience similar weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 35°C.

Advisory

PAGASA advises residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant, especially during thunderstorms that may trigger sudden flooding or landslides. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are also urged to monitor weather updates before heading out to sea, despite generally manageable coastal conditions.

The public is encouraged to continue monitoring official advisories for updates as localized thunderstorms may rapidly change conditions within short periods.
