Mindanao will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, according to the latest regional weather forecast issued at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its bulletin valid from 5:00 a.m. January 20 to 5:00 a.m. January 21, 2026, PAGASA reported that the center of Tropical Depression ADA—international name Nokaen—was located about 665 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 3:00 a.m. The weather disturbance is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 70 kph, and is moving eastward at around 20 kph, away from the country.

Despite the presence of the tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility’s immediate influence, Mindanao will still be affected by localized thunderstorms, which may trigger sudden heavy downpours, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Risk of Flooding and Landslides

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents are advised to remain alert, monitor weather updates, and take precautionary measures, especially those living near rivers, slopes, and flood-prone zones.

Winds and Sea Conditions

Across Mindanao, light to moderate winds from the northwest are expected, while coastal waters will range from slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 and 1.5 meters. Small sea vessels and fishing boats are advised to exercise caution, particularly during thunderstorm activity.

Regional Outlook

From Zamboanga Peninsula to Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), weather conditions will generally remain the same throughout the day and into the night—partly cloudy skies becoming cloudy at times with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Daytime temperatures across Mindanao are expected to range from 19°C to 34°C, with cooler conditions in highland areas such as Bukidnon and Lanao, and warmer temperatures in coastal and lowland provinces including parts of Davao, Cotabato, and Maguindanao.

Advisory to the Public

PAGASA urged the public, local government units, disaster risk reduction offices, farmers, and fisherfolk to stay updated with official weather advisories, particularly as localized thunderstorms can rapidly intensify.
