Mindanao — Most parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms from 5:00 a.m. today, January 29, until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, according to the latest Regional Weather Forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the prevailing weather condition is being caused by localized thunderstorms, which may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying areas and mountainous or landslide-prone communities during periods of heavy rainfall.

Across the island, light to moderate winds from the northeast to north will prevail, while coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters, generally favorable for fishing and sea travel, though caution is still advised during thunderstorms.

Zamboanga Peninsula

Provinces in the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rainshowers or thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures may range from 21°C to 35°C, with coastal conditions remaining slight to moderate.

Northern Mindanao

In Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, similar weather conditions are expected. Temperatures will range between 19°C and 32°C, with coastal provinces seeing slight to moderate sea conditions. Residents are advised to remain alert for sudden downpours, especially in upland and river-adjacent areas.

Davao Region

The Davao Region, covering Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will also experience intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures may peak between 30°C and 34°C, while coastal waters will remain manageable but potentially rough during storm activity.

SOCCSKSARGEN

In SOCCSKSARGEN, including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, PAGASA forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional thunderstorms. Temperatures could reach up to 34°C, prompting authorities to remind residents to stay hydrated and prepared for sudden weather changes.

Caraga Region

Provinces in the Caraga RegionAgusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands—will continue to experience unstable weather, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 32°C. Coastal communities are urged to monitor weather updates, especially during afternoon and evening hours.

BARMM

In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected. Temperatures may range from 20°C to 34°C, with slight to moderate sea conditions prevailing across coastal areas.

PAGASA reiterated its call for local government units, disaster response teams, and residents to closely monitor weather advisories, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
