DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Mindanao will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as the Easterlies affect the region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in its latest regional forecast.

In its bulletin issued at 5:00 a.m. on January 13, 2026, PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) warned that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Strong Winds, Rough Seas in Eastern Mindanao

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds from the east to northeast will prevail over the eastern sections of Mindanao, including Davao Region, Caraga, and parts of Eastern Mindanao, bringing moderate to rough seas ranging from 1.5 to 2.8 meters.

Coastal communities and small sea craft operators are advised to exercise extreme caution, especially along the eastern seaboards of Davao Oriental, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Agusan del Norte, where sea conditions may become hazardous.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds from the northeast to north will prevail over the rest of Mindanao, with slight to moderate seas of 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

Zamboanga Peninsula: Intermittent Rains Expected

In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Temperatures are forecast to range from 22°C to 35°C, with light to moderate northeasterly to northerly winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

Northern Mindanao: Cool Mornings, Possible Thunderstorms

Provinces in Northern Mindanao, such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, will also experience intermittent rains and thunderstorms.

  • Bukidnon may record temperatures as low as 18°C in upland areas, rising to 33°C during the day.
  • Camiguin and Misamis provinces will have slight to moderate seas, posing moderate risks to small fishing boats.

Davao Region: Strong Winds, Choppy Seas

The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will be affected by moderate to strong easterly to northeasterly winds.

Coastal areas in Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental are expected to experience moderate to rough seas, while inland areas may encounter sudden downpours and thunderstorms.
Temperatures in the region will range from 22°C to 34°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN: Warm, Humid with Isolated Rains

In North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate, and coastal waters will remain slight to moderate. Daytime temperatures may climb up to 33°C, making conditions warm and humid.

Caraga Region: Rough Seas, Risk of Flooding

The Caraga Region — covering Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands — will continue to be affected by moderate to strong easterly winds.

PAGASA warned of moderate to rough coastal waters and possible flash flooding during heavy downpours, particularly in flood-prone areas and near river systems.

BARMM: Scattered Rains Across the Region

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures in Maguindanao del Sur may reach up to 36°C, while Lanao del Sur will be cooler at 20°C to 28°C.
Coastal areas in Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi will have slight to moderate seas, but mariners are still advised to remain cautious.
