February 5, 2025 – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather forecast warning residents in several regions of Mindanao about scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the influence of Easterlies.
Caraga, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with possible flash floods and landslides in areas affected by moderate to heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao, including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Regional Forecast Breakdown:
- Davao Region (Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental) – Cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms, light to moderate winds, and slight to moderate seas.
- Caraga Region (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands) – Mostly cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms, with light to moderate winds.
- SOCCSKSARGEN (North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani) – Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, light to moderate winds.
- Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay) – Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
- Northern Mindanao (Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental) – Partly cloudy to cloudy with rain showers or thunderstorms.
- BARMM (Cotabato City, Isabela City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur) – Generally partly cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing slightly rough coastal conditions.
PAGASA advises residents in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, particularly in Caraga, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN, to stay alert and take necessary precautions. Fisherfolk and those traveling by sea are also urged to monitor weather updates, especially in areas with moderate to rough seas.
