January 31, 2025 – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued its latest regional weather forecast, indicating partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms across Mindanao. Residents are advised to stay vigilant, as severe thunderstorms may lead to possible flash floods or landslides.
Regional Weather Overview
Mindanao will experience varied weather conditions influenced by easterly winds. Moderate to strong winds will prevail in the eastern section, accompanied by moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.7 meters). The rest of Mindanao will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Zamboanga Peninsula
- Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay: Expect partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal conditions.
Northern Mindanao
- Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental: These areas will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Light to moderate easterly winds will prevail, and coastal conditions will be slight to moderate.
Davao Region
- Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental: Expect partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with localized thunderstorms. Winds in Davao Oriental will be moderate to strong, bringing moderate to rough coastal waters. The rest of the region will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
SOCCSKSARGEN
- North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani: These provinces will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal conditions.
Caraga Region
- Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands: The region will experience partly cloudy skies with occasional thunderstorms. Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will have moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas. Agusan del Sur will experience lighter winds and calmer seas.
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
- Cotabato City, Isabela City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur: Partly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected. Winds will be light to moderate from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal conditions.
Safety Reminders
PAGASA advises residents, especially those in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, to remain alert during severe thunderstorms. Fisherfolk and seafarers in the eastern section of Mindanao should exercise caution due to moderate to rough sea conditions.
