February 3, 2025 – Residents across Mindanao are advised to prepare for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms as Easterlies continue to affect the region, according to the latest weather bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Caraga Region on Alert for Heavy Rains
Caraga will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The agency warns of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall. Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur will have moderate to strong winds, causing moderate to rough seas along coastal areas, with waves reaching up to 3.1 meters.
Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao: Isolated Rainshowers Expected
The provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga City will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms. Similar conditions will be experienced in Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. Winds will be light to moderate, with slight to moderate sea conditions.
Davao Region: Cloudy Skies and Thunderstorms
Metro Davao, along with Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, can expect partly cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms. The coastal waters will be moderate to rough, with strong winds in some areas, making sea travel risky for small vessels.
SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM: Unstable Weather Persists
The provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will experience partly cloudy skies with occasional thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Cotabato City, Isabela City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and the Maguindanao provinces will also see isolated thunderstorms. Coastal conditions remain slight to moderate, making it relatively safer for small fishing boats.
Precautionary Measures Urged
Authorities urge residents in low-lying and mountainous areas to stay alert for possible flooding and landslides. Fisherfolk and seafarers, especially in the eastern sections of Mindanao, should be cautious due to rough seas.
PAGASA advises the public to stay updated with the latest weather advisories through their official website and hotline.
