January 30, 2025 – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather forecast indicating cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental due to easterlies. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao, including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, the Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Regional Forecast Breakdown:
- Caraga Region (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands) – Cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to strong northeast winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
- Davao Region (Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental) – Mixed weather conditions, with rain showers and thunderstorms in Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental, while other provinces will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Moderate winds and rough seas are expected in the eastern areas.
- Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay) – Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds from the northeast will bring slight to moderate coastal conditions.
- Northern Mindanao (Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental) – Expect partly cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms. Winds remain light to moderate, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate.
- SOCCSKSARGEN (North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani) – Similar conditions persist, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
- BARMM (Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Isabela City) – The region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate.
Residents, particularly in flood- and landslide-prone areas, are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and take precautionary measures as needed. Mariners are also advised to take caution, especially in areas with rough seas.
