Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City – In a major anti-illegal drug operation on November 8, 2024, law enforcement authorities in Davao City apprehended a top-level drug suspect identified only as “Bai.” The suspect, ranked as the Region’s No. 2 High-Value Individual (HVI) in illegal drug activities, was arrested in Purok 2, Bolton Extension, Barangay 40-D, Davao City.
The operation, executed by joint forces from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit XI (RPDEU XI) and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), led to the seizure of several transparent plastic sachets suspected to contain dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops. The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately PHP 586,680.
During the operation, authorities also rescued a minor and seized various items from the suspect, including a purple eco-bag, a purple backpack, a blue coin pouch, an iPhone, and a genuine PHP 1,000 bill with five photocopied counterparts.
PRO 11 Acting Regional Director, PBGEN Leon Victor Z. Rosete, commended the dedication of the officers involved, highlighting the operation as a significant step in the Davao Region’s anti-drug campaign. “This successful drug buy-bust operation and the arrest of a top regional target send a strong message to illegal drug personalities that the PNP remains committed to eradicating illegal drugs and apprehending high-value targets,” Rosete stated.
The operation is part of a broader recalibrated strategy by the PNP leadership aimed at dismantling drug networks and apprehending influential figures within the illegal drug trade.
