DAVAO CITY — Police arrested a regional priority target in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Buhangin on October 27, 2026, and seized suspected shabu valued at more than ₱217,600, along with a .22-caliber revolver, according to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

The arrested suspect, identified only by the alias “Orlan” in the police report, was classified as a high-value individual (HVI) and a regional priority target. Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s full identity or provided further details about the charges he may face.
The operation was conducted at Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Buhangin, through the coordinated efforts of several DCPO units, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 11 (RPDEU XI), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region XI (PDEA XI).
Participating units included the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), the City Special Operations Group (CSOG), the City Intelligence Unit, personnel from the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies, the DCPO Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, the Mobile Patrol Unit, and personnel of the Bajada Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria, DCPO city director, with the participating operational teams led by Police Major Bernie B. Suaga, according to the police statement.
Police reported that the operation yielded suspected shabu worth more than ₱217,600 and one .22-caliber revolver. However, the police announcement did not specify the exact quantity of the suspected illegal drug, the number of individual sachets recovered, or whether ammunition was also seized.
The seized substance was described as suspected shabu. Its identity and composition would ordinarily be subject to laboratory examination as part of the investigation.
Multi-unit operation targets alleged drug activity
The participation of police enforcement, intelligence, mobile response, and tactical units points to a coordinated operation involving several specialized teams. The involvement of PDEA XI also reflects inter-agency cooperation in implementing the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
In its statement, the DCPO commended the participating personnel and described the operation as a significant accomplishment in its efforts to address illegal drug activities in Davao City.
The police office also highlighted the importance of coordination among law enforcement agencies, barangay officials, the local government, and community members in supporting anti-drug initiatives.
While authorities characterized the arrest as a major operational success, the full circumstances of the case remain unclear based on the information released. Details concerning the suspect’s alleged role, the source of the seized substance, and any possible connections to a wider drug distribution network were not provided.
Legal process remains essential
The arrest and seizure mark the reported outcome of the police operation, but the allegations against the suspect must still be established through the appropriate legal process.
The seized substance must be handled and examined in accordance with applicable procedures, while investigators must establish the circumstances surrounding its recovery and the possession of the firearm.
The police announcement did not identify the specific criminal complaints filed against the suspect or state whether a court had issued any subsequent orders. The suspect’s response to the allegations was also not included in the information provided.
The DCPO said the operation demonstrated its continuing commitment to combating illegal drugs and protecting communities. The case will ultimately depend on the evidence gathered by investigators and the findings of the appropriate authorities.
The suspect remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty by a competent court.
