CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Large parts of Mindanao will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, as the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and localized thunderstorms affect weather conditions across the island, according to the latest regional forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin on March 16, 2026, PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) said Northern Mindanao and the Caraga Region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains brought by the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao, including the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by localized weather systems.
Weather forecasters warned that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Winds and Sea Conditions
The eastern section of Mindanao—including parts of Caraga and the Davao Region—will experience moderate to strong winds coming from the northeast to north, resulting in moderate to rough sea conditions, with wave heights ranging from 1.8 to 3.1 meters.
PAGASA advised fishermen and operators of small sea vessels in these areas to exercise caution due to potentially hazardous sea conditions.
In contrast, the rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from the northeast to north, with slight to moderate seas ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
Weather Outlook in Key Mindanao Regions
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures in the region are forecast to range from 19°C to 34°C, accompanied by light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will likely experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the northeast monsoon. Temperatures are expected to range between 18°C and 31°C, with light to moderate winds and generally manageable sea conditions.
The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will see intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms. Coastal areas, particularly Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro, may experience moderate to strong winds and rougher seas.
Temperatures across the region are forecast to range between 19°C and 32°C.
Conditions in SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM
In SOCCSKSARGEN, covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, weather conditions will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with possible rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures may range from 22°C to 34°C.
Similarly, provinces in BARMM—including Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Cotabato City—will also experience occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging between 19°C and 34°C.
Advisory to Residents
PAGASA urged residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant for sudden thunderstorms, which may bring intense rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds.
Local disaster management authorities are also advised to closely monitor weather updates, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides.
Fisherfolk and small boat operators in the eastern seaboards of Mindanao were particularly warned to avoid venturing out to sea during rough conditions.
The weather bureau said it will continue to closely monitor atmospheric conditions and release further advisories if necessary.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updates through PAGASA’s official website and local weather bulletins for the latest information.
