EL SALVADOR CITY, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — January 1, 2026 — Residents across Mindanao are advised to prepare for partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms throughout the day, as easterly winds continue to influence the region’s weather, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The regional forecast, issued at 5:00 a.m. today, is valid until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. Meteorologists warned that localized heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Light to moderate winds from the east to southeast are expected, with slight to moderate coastal seas ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Zamboanga Peninsula:
Partly cloudy skies will prevail over Zamboanga City and the surrounding provinces, with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are forecasted to range between 23°C and 35°C. Winds are expected to be light to moderate from the east to southeast, with coastal areas experiencing slight to moderate sea conditions.

Northern Mindanao:
Provinces including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will also see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated thunderstorms. Temperature highs will reach 32°C, while lows are expected to drop to around 20°C in some areas.

Davao Region:
Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental will experience similar weather patterns. Residents should anticipate light to moderate winds from the east to southeast and coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate in height. Daily temperatures are projected between 22°C and 33°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN Region:
North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will have partly cloudy skies with intermittent thunderstorms. Temperatures will generally vary from 22°C to 32°C, accompanied by light to moderate easterly winds.

Caraga Region:
Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperature ranges are expected from 22°C to 32°C, with light to moderate easterly winds. Coastal waters remain slight to moderate.

BARMM:
Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur will also see partly cloudy skies, punctuated by occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 21°C and 34°C, with light to moderate winds prevailing.
