Mindanao — Residents across the island are advised to stay alert for isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms as the Easterlies continue to affect the region throughout New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to the latest forecast from PAGASA’s Mindanao PRSD.

The weather bureau reports that partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail over most provinces in Mindanao, but periodic rains and thunderstorms may occur, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. PAGASA also cautioned the public about possible flash floods or landslides in areas experiencing intense rainfall.

Winds will be light to moderate from the east to northeast, while coastal waters across Mindanao will remain slight to moderate, with waves reaching 0.6 to 2.1 meters—generally safe for sea travel but still requiring precaution for small boats.
