Mindanao is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, with residents in vulnerable areas warned to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
The forecast was issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Mindanao PRSD (MINPRSD) at 5:00 a.m. on September 13, 2026, and is valid until 5:00 a.m. on September 14. PAGASA said the region will generally have light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest, while coastal waters are expected to range from slight to moderate, with wave heights of about 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
The weather pattern covers virtually all major areas of Mindanao, including the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Zamboanga Peninsula
Zamboanga City and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay, as well as Isabela City, are forecast to have partly cloudy skies that may become cloudy at times, with rainshowers or thunderstorms possible during both daytime and nighttime.
Temperatures in Zamboanga City are forecast at 25°C to 35°C during the day, easing to 25°C to 32°C at night. Zamboanga del Norte may reach 34°C, while Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay could reach 33°C. Isabela City is forecast to reach 32°C during the day.
Northern Mindanao
Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental will likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with possible rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Bukidnon will have the coolest forecast temperatures in the region, ranging from 18°C to 32°C during the day and 18°C to 30°C overnight. Camiguin could reach 35°C, while Misamis Oriental is forecast at 26°C to 32°C during the daytime.
Davao Region
Metro Davao and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental are also expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 32°C to 34°C in several areas, with Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro reaching up to 34°C and Metro Davao up to 32°C. Overnight temperatures are expected to generally fall to between 23°C and 32°C, depending on the area.
SOCCSKSARGEN
North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani will remain under the same general weather outlook, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible rainshowers or thunderstorms.
North Cotabato is forecast to reach 34°C, while South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani could reach 33°C during the day. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from about 22°C to 32°C across the provinces.
Caraga
The Caraga provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands are likewise expected to experience rainshowers or thunderstorms amid partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
Agusan del Norte could reach 35°C, while Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur are also forecast to reach 35°C during the day. Dinagat Islands may reach 34°C. Nighttime temperatures are expected to remain relatively warm, ranging from 23°C to 33°C depending on the province.
BARMM areas also under thunderstorm watch
Cotabato City and the BARMM provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur are also forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Tawi-Tawi is expected to reach 34°C, while Sulu could reach 35°C during the daytime. Cotabato City may reach 33°C, while Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur are forecast to reach between 31°C and 33°C.
PAGASA urges vigilance in vulnerable areas
Although the forecast does not indicate widespread continuous rainfall across Mindanao, PAGASA’s warning on possible flash floods and landslides due to severe thunderstorms highlights the potential for sudden, localized hazards.
Communities near rivers, creeks and other waterways, as well as those living along steep slopes and areas previously affected by landslides, should remain particularly vigilant whenever thunderstorms develop. Motorists and commuters should also exercise caution when heavy rain suddenly reduces visibility or causes water to accumulate along roads.
For coastal communities and maritime operators, PAGASA forecasts slight to moderate seas, with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds across the covered areas.
The forecast is valid from 5:00 a.m. September 13 until 5:00 a.m. September 14, 2026, with PAGASA advising the public to monitor succeeding weather bulletins and warnings for possible changes in local conditions.
