CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Residents across Mindanao should prepare for intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as localized thunderstorms continue to affect the island, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its regional weather bulletin released at 5:00 a.m. on June 10, PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) said that most parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorm activity.
Weather forecasters warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying communities, flood-prone areas, and mountainous regions.
“Residents are advised to remain vigilant, especially during periods of intense rainfall associated with thunderstorms,” PAGASA said.
Rainfall Expected Across All Mindanao Regions
The weather disturbance is expected to affect the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures are expected to range from 24°C to 34°C, with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.
Northern Mindanao provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental are also expected to experience similar weather conditions. Bukidnon is forecast to have temperatures ranging from 20°C to 33°C, while coastal provinces may experience slightly warmer conditions.
The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will likewise experience unstable weather conditions. Temperatures may reach as high as 34°C during daytime hours despite the presence of rain-bearing clouds.
SOCCSKSARGEN Remains Under Thunderstorm Threat
In SOCCSKSARGEN, provinces including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani are expected to experience periods of sunshine interrupted by isolated thunderstorms.
Temperatures in the region may range between 23°C and 34°C.
The advisory comes just days after parts of the region were affected by a powerful earthquake, prompting authorities to remind residents living near unstable slopes and damaged structures to exercise additional caution during heavy rainfall.
Caraga and BARMM Also Under Monitoring
The Caraga Region, composed of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, is forecast to experience scattered thunderstorm activity throughout the day. Maximum temperatures could reach between 34°C and 35°C in some areas.
Meanwhile, provinces under BARMM, including Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and Cotabato City, will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Lanao del Sur is expected to record some of the coolest temperatures in Mindanao, ranging from 22°C to 31°C.
Sea Conditions Remain Generally Safe
PAGASA reported that winds across Mindanao will remain light to moderate, blowing from the southeast to southwest.
Coastal waters around the island are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters, making sea travel generally safe for small fishing vessels and other sea-going activities. However, mariners are still advised to monitor weather updates, especially when thunderstorms develop.
Public Advised to Stay Alert
Authorities are urging the public to remain updated with official weather bulletins and heed advisories from local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
While no tropical cyclone is currently affecting Mindanao, localized thunderstorms can rapidly develop and produce heavy rainfall, strong winds, lightning, and reduced visibility, posing risks to both communities and travelers.
PAGASA advised residents to take necessary precautions and immediately report flooding, landslides, or weather-related emergencies to local authorities.
The forecast remains valid until 5:00 a.m. on June 11, 2026.
