MINDANAO, Philippines — State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has forecast generally fair but unstable weather conditions across Mindanao, with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms expected from early morning Sunday, April 19, until early Monday.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional weather bulletin, PAGASA said most parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with sudden downpours and thunderstorms likely to develop, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
Authorities warned that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Winds and Sea Conditions
Moderate winds from the northeast to north will prevail over the eastern section of Mindanao, generating moderate seas ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters. Meanwhile, the rest of the island will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 1.8 meters).
Fisherfolk and small seacraft operators, particularly along the eastern seaboard, were advised to exercise caution due to potentially rougher coastal conditions.
Regional Outlook
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City and surrounding provinces, temperatures are expected to range from 23°C to 36°C, with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms.
In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental will see similar weather patterns, with temperatures between 19°C and 34°C.
The Davao Region, including Davao City, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional thunderstorms. Temperatures may peak at 35°C, particularly in inland areas like Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
Eastern coastal provinces such as Davao Oriental, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands are expected to encounter moderate winds and seas, making conditions slightly rougher compared to other regions.
SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM
In the SOCCSKSARGEN region, including South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, temperatures may reach up to 35°C, with isolated thunderstorms persisting.
Meanwhile, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), areas such as Cotabato City, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi will experience similar weather disturbances, with coastal conditions remaining generally slight to moderate.
Advisory
PAGASA urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly during thunderstorms, which may develop rapidly and bring intense rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds.
Local disaster risk reduction offices are also advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for possible weather-related incidents.
The weather agency continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and will issue updates as necessary.
