DAVAO CITY – Large parts of Mindanao will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours as the Easterlies prevail across the region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest regional forecast.

In its weather bulletin issued at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, PAGASA warned that localized heavy downpours during severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying, flood-prone, and mountainous areas.

The weather system will affect Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms,” PAGASA said.

Zamboanga Peninsula: Warm, Humid, With Passing Showers

In Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, residents can expect partly cloudy skies becoming cloudy at times with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 34°C, with light to moderate northeast winds and slight to moderate coastal conditions.

Northern Mindanao: Rainshowers Likely in the Afternoons and Evenings

Provinces in Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, will also see similar weather conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 34°C in some areas.

Coastal waters in Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will remain slight to moderate, making sea travel generally manageable but still requiring caution, especially during thunderstorms.

Davao Region: Thunderstorms Possible, Rough Seas in Some Areas

In the Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, PAGASA forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Notably, Davao del Sur may experience moderate to rough coastal waters, while temperatures across the region will range from 21°C to as high as 35°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN: Heat and Humidity with Isolated Rains

Residents of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani should brace for hot and humid conditions with occasional rainshowers or thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures could climb to 35°C, especially in South Cotabato and Sarangani.

Coastal areas will have slight to moderate seas with light to moderate northeast winds.

Caraga: Cloudy Skies and Passing Thunderstorms

In the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, PAGASA expects cloudy skies with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will range between 21°C and 34°C, while coastal conditions remain slight to moderate.

BARMM: Scattered Rains Across the Bangsamoro Region

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) – covering Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi – will also be affected by the Easterlies, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures across BARMM will range from 22°C to 34°C, with slight to moderate coastal waters and light to moderate northeast winds.

Public Advised to Stay Alert

PAGASA urged local government units, disaster risk reduction offices, farmers, fisherfolk, and commuters to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.

Small sea vessels are advised to exercise caution, especially in areas experiencing thunderstorms and moderate to rough seas.
