Mindanao will experience generally unsettled weather over the next 24 hours as Easterlies continue to affect the region, according to the Regional Weather Forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA–MINPRSD) at 5:00 a.m. on December 23, 2025. The forecast is valid from 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, covering all provinces in Mindanao, including BARMM and the Caraga Region.

PAGASA said Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur are expected to bear the brunt of the weather system, with cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the day and night. Moderate to at times heavy rainfall in these areas may trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities. Residents are advised to remain alert and monitor advisories from local disaster risk reduction offices.

The rest of Mindanao—including Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, and other parts of Caraga—will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. While rainfall may be intermittent, PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could still cause localized flooding or landslides, especially in flood-prone areas and near river systems.

Winds across Mindanao will be light to moderate, coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters, making sea travel generally manageable but potentially risky during thunderstorms. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are advised to exercise caution, particularly along the eastern seaboard and in areas experiencing stormy conditions.

Temperatures across the region will remain warm and humid, with daytime highs ranging from 28°C to 33°C in many lowland and coastal areas, including Metro Davao, South Cotabato, Cotabato City, and parts of BARMM. Cooler temperatures are expected in higher elevation areas such as Bukidnon and Davao de Oro, where temperatures may drop to as low as 20°C during the early morning hours.

PAGASA urged the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins and to take precautionary measures, especially as holiday activities increase. For further information and updates, the public may contact PAGASA through its official hotlines or visit the agency’s website at bagong.pagasa.dost.gov.ph.
