Mindanao — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has reported that Tropical Depression “Uwan” (international name: Fung-Wong) continues to move northeastward, indirectly affecting parts of the country, including Mindanao, through enhanced rainfall from the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

As of 3:00 AM today, “Uwan” was located 280 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes (23.3°N, 122.1°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour, moving northeast at 25 kilometers per hour.

While the tropical depression is far from Mindanao, the ITCZ is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms across the island throughout the day. PAGASA warns of possible flash floods and landslides, especially in areas with prolonged or heavy downpours.
