El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental — July 4, 2025 — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a regional weather forecast for Mindanao as of 5:00 AM today, warning of possible flash floods and landslides in parts of Caraga Region as Tropical Depression “Bising” and the southwest monsoon continue to affect the area.

As of 3:00 AM, the center of Tropical Depression “Bising” was spotted 200 km west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, moving southwest at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. While the depression is situated far north of Mindanao, its effects, combined with the southwest monsoon, are being felt across the island region.

Weather Highlights:

Caraga Region:

  • Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands are experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, with a moderate to high risk of flash floods and landslides.
  • Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, and Agusan del Sur are forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures: 23°C–33°C
    • Winds: Light to moderate from the southwest
    • Seas: Slight to moderate

Northern Mindanao:

  • Provinces including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures range from 19°C in Bukidnon to 33°C in Misamis provinces.

Zamboanga Peninsula:

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City can expect partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures range from 22°C to 33°C
    • Winds: Light to moderate, southwest

Davao Region:

  • All provinces including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures: 23°C–33°C
    • Coastal waters remain slight to moderate

SOCCSKSARGEN:

  • North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will have similar weather patterns of partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures between 22°C and 32°C
    • Coastal conditions: Slight to moderate seas

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM):

  • Provinces such as Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi are forecast to have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with chances of scattered thunderstorms.
    • Temperatures peak at 35°C in Maguindanao del Sur
    • Tawi-Tawi remains warm with sea conditions ranging slightly to moderate

Advisory and Safety Measures:

PAGASA reminds residents in areas affected by the southwest monsoon—especially in Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte—to remain vigilant against potential flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas. Fisherfolk and those venturing out to sea are advised to monitor updates due to occasional moderate seas.
