BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi (June 17, 2025) — Authorities arrested a suspected drug personality in a successful joint law enforcement operation conducted in Barangay Tubig Tanah, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Hajum,” a 47-year-old female resident of the said barangay, was apprehended around 5:00 PM on Tuesday by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Tawi-Tawi Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with the Bongao Municipal Police Station.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 5 of the 9th Judicial Region, for Violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The court recommended a bail bond of Php 200,000.
Alias Hajum had been listed as a wanted individual for illegal possession of dangerous drugs. The CIDG Tawi-Tawi Tracker Team, with support from the Provincial Intelligence Team (PIT) Tawi-Tawi, Regional Intelligence Unit 9 (RIU9), the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Tawi-Tawi, and the Bongao MPS, conducted the operation which led to the arrest without resistance.
Authorities ensured that the suspect was properly informed of the charges filed against her and was apprised of her constitutional rights in a language she fully understood. She is now under the custody of CIDG Tawi-Tawi for documentation and further legal proceedings, pending the return of the warrant to the court.
Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), commended the operatives for the swift and coordinated action, emphasizing the police’s continuing efforts to curb illegal drugs in the region.
