Bongao, Tawi-Tawi — In a renewed push against the illegal drug trade, police operatives from the Bongao Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, arrested a suspected drug pusher during an anti-illegal drug operation on July 15, 2025, in Barangay Simandagit.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Farid,” 40, and a resident of Barangay Tubig Tanah, was apprehended after being caught in the act of selling and possessing a substance believed to be shabu. The operation stemmed from a tip-off by a concerned citizen regarding the suspect’s alleged drug activities.

Authorities recovered from the suspect a quantity of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱144,160.00. Following standard procedure, the seized items were immediately inventoried and marked in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives to ensure transparency and accountability.

The suspect was also apprised of his constitutional rights at the time of arrest.

Currently, “Farid” and the confiscated illegal drugs are under the custody of Bongao MPS for documentation and further investigation. Police said appropriate charges are being readied against the suspect for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities reiterated their call for public support in reporting illegal drug activities, emphasizing that community cooperation remains crucial in the fight against drugs.
