Police Apprehend Two Suspects for Illegal Drug Activity in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi

In a joint operation, the 1405th-B RMFB14-B, Bongao Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) successfully apprehended two individuals for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in Barangay Sanga-Sanga.

The arrests followed a report from concerned citizens regarding an illegal drug activity in progress in the area. Acting swiftly, authorities conducted a surveillance and arrest operation, which resulted in the seizure of significant evidence.

Among the confiscated items were ten heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a total of approximately 40 grams of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The seized illegal drugs have an estimated standard street value of ₱272,000. Authorities also recovered one blue Huawei Android phone, one white ITEL keypad cellphone, two sling bags, and a wallet containing ₱1,250, believed to be proceeds from drug transactions.

The proper documentation and inventory of the seized items were conducted in the presence of barangay officials and members of the media to ensure transparency and adherence to procedural protocols.

The suspects have been brought to the Bongao Municipal Police Station for further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.

Authorities commend the community for their vigilance and encourage continued cooperation in reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing that community involvement is crucial in combating illegal drugs.

Further investigation is ongoing to uncover potential networks or accomplices linked to the suspects.
