TAWI-TAWI — Authorities in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi arrested two suspected drug personalities during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Simandagit on August 7, 2025, as part of the intensified anti-drug campaign of the Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR).
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Omar” and “Khaizer,” were caught in the act of selling suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱24,000. The arrest stemmed from information provided by a concerned citizen about the duo’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
Acting on the tip, personnel of the Bongao Municipal Police Station (MPS) launched the buy-bust operation, resulting in the swift capture of the suspects. Confiscated illegal drugs and other pieces of evidence are now under police custody.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the two.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO BAR, commended the Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office and Bongao MPS for their quick action and teamwork. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement in the fight against illegal drugs and other criminal activities.
